For example, a lesbian employee that is fired for being too "butch" or a gay male employee who is fired for being a "sissy" may be protected under existing gender discrimination laws. Also, a gay male who is terminated because an employer believes that he may be HIV positive may be protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
